about PSOC

Photographic Society of Orange County

The club meets once a month. Meeting time is 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Each month we have a field trip and an assignment. Photographs for the trips and assignments are shown at the meetings. PSOC has two competitions a year with a subject assignment. Voting for this competition is by three. members published monthly. Calendar year membership dues are $35 per person or $45 for a couple. Workshops or guest speakers are provided periodically. We have two over night field trips each year, usually Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Typical meeting format:

At each meeting photos are shown from the previous field trip and/or assignment. Photos are projected on a screen either from slides or digital. We have an outstanding outside expert view the photos and critique them, pointing out why the photo works well or how it could be improved. We learn from our own and other’s work. Each member can show up to four pictures from the field trip and/or monthly assignment. There is a refreshment break during each meeting.

PSOC is not a competitive club. It is more of a social club with all the members having a common interest – photography. The primary purpose of PSOC is for each member to improve their photography for their own enjoyment, and have fun in the process. Our club statement  says it all.

“A place where members can approach photography with a resolution to reach their creative potential."
